Kansas
| I adopted a cat from your animal sanctuary a little over two years ago (July 2007). She is a spunky, sassy, beautiful grey cat and has been an excellent addition to my family.
The transition was somewhat difficult. At the beginning she would lick me twice and then bite me. By letting her lick the two times and then taking my hand away before the bite I was able to train her how to interact with kind humans and how to trust again. I believe the family that abandoned her in an apartment building may have been abusive to her based on her tendencies.
She was at Gentle Touch for about a year. I am so thankful that your facility is no kill. I understand the importance of every type of shelter, but without Kansas (formerly Buffy at Gentle Touch) I wouldn't look forward to coming home as much as I do. I am single and as "crazy cat lady" as this sounds, Kansas is better than having humans around sometimes!
I have attached 3 pictures of her so you can see how she is doing. Once again I just wanted to thank you for taking such great care of her while she was at Gentle Touch and for making the adoption possible. I have suggested your facility to friends and family. Thanks for the positive experience and the wonderful cat!

Maggie
| Carrie has a new name- Maggie. She seems to know her name already. She is also doing very well with housebreaking- has only had 1 accident since we brought her home Saturday. She hasn't had any accidents in her crate and only wakes up once in the night when she needs to go outside.
She is in her crate when I'm not here and the longest I have been gone is about 3.5 hours- she did fine. I also started walking her on a leash yesterday- she doesn't quite appreciate the walks yet, but she will soon. She is the best little dog I have ever known. She doesn't shed, barks very little, gets along very well with other animals and children. My nephews are 6 and 9 and they love her.
She likes to chew when she's not busy, so I just make sure she has plenty of toys to chew on. She hasn't coughed much the past couple days, but still has a runny nose. We think she has black lab in her and possibly border collie. She seems to try and herd the kids. She also likes to hide under my big hos ta leaves and chase little moths in the grass. It is so much fun watching her figure things out. I've attached a couple pictures.
Here is a picture of my little (39 lbs) Maggie. She is about 6 months old now. She is house trained and graduated from puppy training at Petco (the valedictorian of her class). For Halloween, she was a lady bug and didn't want to take the costume off.

Thanks again, Kari. |

Wee Willis McGee
Hello there Gentle Touch Sanctuary –
On January 2nd, my husband and I adopted Joshua – a roughly 4 month old terrier mix – from Gentle Touch. We thought you might like an update.
Joshua was renamed and is now Wee Willis McGee; we call him Willis, Willy, Mr. McGee, etc. He is a gem. One of the friendliest dogs I have ever encountered without a nasty thought or an ill-wish in him. He adores other dogs and kids, takes regular trips to the dog park and has started getting in shape to be my daily running companion. He’s doing extremely well in his training and manners – still a bit jumpy when people come to visit, but otherwise exceptionally far along. He gets a bit carsick, but seems to be getting over this gradually and is a very well behaved traveler. He’s up to about 17 pounds and is healthy, happy and a treasured member of our family.
Attached are two photos of him in his new home. Thank you for the work you do and specifically for rescuing Willis and taking such good care of him in his early life.
Warm regards, Bonnie |

Polly
| Hello,
My name is Leighann and I adopted a cat from the Plymoth petsmart several months ago named Chris.
I wanted to thank you so much for saving her so that she can be with me now! I love her so much, and she has made a big positive change in my life.
| I call her Polly (because she is polydactle) and she loves to play, scamper around, talk, look out the window, and lounge on the couch.
~Thank you again! |
Harley
| Alls well with Harley, except for some occasional crying at night.
He really likes the local dog park & shows no fear as he chases all the biggest dogs.
Thanks again.

Libby
Hi,
Libby (Angie) has been a wonderful addition to our family. Getting along with our other dog, boomer, loves to play and tease him and he is a good sport about it. She has mastered the stairs, doing well with house training though not completely reliable.
Loves to go outside for short periods of time. Sleeps in the kennel at night with very little whining/protesting. She is lovable has kisses for everyone, and silly. We have been working on some basic obedience with her. couldn't ask for a better pup.
Thank you so much!

Makena Kai
Hi,
We just wanted to say thanks again for giving us the opportunity to adopt our new puppy.
Makena Kai is doing great with the crate training! She's really catching on.
She seems to feel at home with us.
We're going to look into obedience classes for her also.
Here are a couple of pictures for you! |

Gigi
Hi All,
Attached are pictures of Gigi. We took her to the vet on Wednesday and received a clean bill of health. Gigi is adapting well to her new surroundings, she is very alert and reacts well especially with kids. Gigi is eating good and full of energy.
She is learning to let us know if she needs to go outside to relieve herself, even if it is in the middle of night.
Oh well, that is a sacrifice I can handle. Gigi is now part of the family and we will do whatever it takes to make her feel comfortable. The vet says that puppies bladder is still developing and that it is normal. Thanks to all at Gentle Touch and it was nice to meet you and feel all the love that you share with your pets. I wished we could adopt more.
Did you know Gigi's birthday is the same as my wife Eva!
I guess we will never forget to celebrate with Gigi. We will keep in touch. That's all for now.
Thanks again,
Mike, Eva, Maykayla & Gigi

Nicholas
| Nicholas was found to have a rare blood type and was adopted by the U of M to help other cats in their Companion Animal Blood Donor Program by giving blood to other cats with his rare blood type.
Gentle Touch is so proud that one of our cats is able to help other cats.
Nicholas was set to be put down before Gentle Touch took him into the Sanctuary.
What a wonderful ending for a cat that almost didn't make it out of a high kill animal control agency. Way to go "Nick".

Ace
| Thought I would send you a picture or two to give you an update on Ace.
He seems happy is healthy and has two little boys who adore him. He needs a few more manners so we are signing up for doggy school next month.
Thanks for letting us adopt him.
Sincerely, Teresa |

Ramon
Hello Sandee,
Attached, long overdue picture of Ramon,
He loves to run in our back yard as long as we are there with him. Truly a people's cat. He would seduce anybody even people who say they don't like cats! He also adores our other cat, a 16th year old female.
He has brought a lot of excitement in her life and now they have just started to have fun together. It took more than 6 months but patience from our side and persistence from Ramon's side have paid off!
Thanks again for job well done!

Grace
| I just wanted to let you know that Grace is doing just fine. She likes her crate and happily gets in for a nap. She went to bed without any fuss last night and even slept all through the night! I heard her entertaining herself in the early morning with a puppy nylabone -- no whining at all.
She's had a full day today -- lots of time in the backyard, two good walks around the block, a visit at my friend Choon's house and a little run in a nearby park. She finds being outside exciting but also overwhelming -- lots of unfamiliar sights and sounds and smells. Bit by bit I think she'll get comfortable though. She's been greeting everyone she meets, people and dogs both.
Grace is treating my cat Pete as no big deal so thanks for doing such a good job acclimating her to cats. Pete hisses a little but is getting on with his life very nicely. They were both in the backyard together today and it was nice to see them going about their own interests without any worries about the other.
Grace has not had a single accident in the house yet. She is even in the process of knowing pretty clearly where in the backyard she should do her business.
I know there'll be some rough patches coming, but I have to say that it's pretty clear to me how lucky I am to have been able to adopt such a sweet and calm puppy.
Thanks again for getting Grace off to such a good start. I'll try to send a couple of pictures soon.

Valentino
| I am writing to update you on the puppy we adopted from your shelter.
We named him Valentino. He is a very sweet little guy and makes a great addition to the family.
We all love him and he is very happy in his new home.
He doesn't like going for walks very much, he likes to stay in the yard so we are working on getting him more comfortable with walks.
We love him very much and it's obvious he loves us too and is very happy. He's a little lover boy.
I've attached a few pics of him.
