Kansas
| I adopted a cat from your animal sanctuary a little over two years ago (July 2007). She is a spunky, sassy, beautiful grey cat and has been an excellent addition to my family.
The transition was somewhat difficult. At the beginning she would lick me twice and then bite me. By letting her lick the two times and then taking my hand away before the bite I was able to train her how to interact with kind humans and how to trust again. I believe the family that abandoned her in an apartment building may have been abusive to her based on her tendencies.
She was at Gentle Touch for about a year. I am so thankful that your facility is no kill. I understand the importance of every type of shelter, but without Kansas (formerly Buffy at Gentle Touch) I wouldn't look forward to coming home as much as I do. I am single and as "crazy cat lady" as this sounds, Kansas is better than having humans around sometimes!
I have attached 3 pictures of her so you can see how she is doing. Once again I just wanted to thank you for taking such great care of her while she was at Gentle Touch and for making the adoption possible. I have suggested your facility to friends and family. Thanks for the positive experience and the wonderful cat!

Maggie
| Carrie has a new name- Maggie. She seems to know her name already. She is also doing very well with housebreaking- has only had 1 accident since we brought her home Saturday. She hasn't had any accidents in her crate and only wakes up once in the night when she needs to go outside.
She is in her crate when I'm not here and the longest I have been gone is about 3.5 hours- she did fine. I also started walking her on a leash yesterday- she doesn't quite appreciate the walks yet, but she will soon. She is the best little dog I have ever known. She doesn't shed, barks very little, gets along very well with other animals and children. My nephews are 6 and 9 and they love her.
She likes to chew when she's not busy, so I just make sure she has plenty of toys to chew on. She hasn't coughed much the past couple days, but still has a runny nose. We think she has black lab in her and possibly border collie. She seems to try and herd the kids. She also likes to hide under my big hos ta leaves and chase little moths in the grass. It is so much fun watching her figure things out. I've attached a couple pictures.
Here is a picture of my little (39 lbs) Maggie. She is about 6 months old now. She is house trained and graduated from puppy training at Petco (the valedictorian of her class). For Halloween, she was a lady bug and didn't want to take the costume off.

Thanks again, Kari. |

He has learned to sit and now we're working on how NOT to bark! Thanks again!

Wee Willis McGee
Hello there Gentle Touch Sanctuary –
On January 2nd, my husband and I adopted Joshua – a roughly 4 month old terrier mix – from Gentle Touch. We thought you might like an update.
Joshua was renamed and is now Wee Willis McGee; we call him Willis, Willy, Mr. McGee, etc. He is a gem. One of the friendliest dogs I have ever encountered without a nasty thought or an ill-wish in him. He adores other dogs and kids, takes regular trips to the dog park and has started getting in shape to be my daily running companion. He’s doing extremely well in his training and manners – still a bit jumpy when people come to visit, but otherwise exceptionally far along. He gets a bit carsick, but seems to be getting over this gradually and is a very well behaved traveler. He’s up to about 17 pounds and is healthy, happy and a treasured member of our family.
Attached are two photos of him in his new home. Thank you for the work you do and specifically for rescuing Willis and taking such good care of him in his early life.
Warm regards, Bonnie |

Polly
| Hello,
My name is Leighann and I adopted a cat from the Plymoth petsmart several months ago named Chris.
I wanted to thank you so much for saving her so that she can be with me now! I love her so much, and she has made a big positive change in my life.
| I call her Polly (because she is polydactle) and she loves to play, scamper around, talk, look out the window, and lounge on the couch.
~Thank you again! |
Harley
| Alls well with Harley, except for some occasional crying at night.
He really likes the local dog park & shows no fear as he chases all the biggest dogs.
Thanks again.

Libby
Hi,
Libby (Angie) has been a wonderful addition to our family. Getting along with our other dog, boomer, loves to play and tease him and he is a good sport about it. She has mastered the stairs, doing well with house training though not completely reliable.
Loves to go outside for short periods of time. Sleeps in the kennel at night with very little whining/protesting. She is lovable has kisses for everyone, and silly. We have been working on some basic obedience with her. couldn't ask for a better pup.
Thank you so much!

Makena Kai
Hi,
We just wanted to say thanks again for giving us the opportunity to adopt our new puppy.
Makena Kai is doing great with the crate training! She's really catching on.
She seems to feel at home with us.
We're going to look into obedience classes for her also.
Here are a couple of pictures for you! |

Leonardo
| Just wanted to let you know that Leonardo is settling very nicely into his new home. You are right, he is such a nice cat! Thank you for taking such good care of him. You are doing such a great work at placing animals into new homes.

Gigi
Hi All,
Attached are pictures of Gigi. We took her to the vet on Wednesday and received a clean bill of health. Gigi is adapting well to her new surroundings, she is very alert and reacts well especially with kids. Gigi is eating good and full of energy.
She is learning to let us know if she needs to go outside to relieve herself, even if it is in the middle of night.
Oh well, that is a sacrifice I can handle. Gigi is now part of the family and we will do whatever it takes to make her feel comfortable. The vet says that puppies bladder is still developing and that it is normal. Thanks to all at Gentle Touch and it was nice to meet you and feel all the love that you share with your pets. I wished we could adopt more.
Did you know Gigi's birthday is the same as my wife Eva!
I guess we will never forget to celebrate with Gigi. We will keep in touch. That's all for now.
Thanks again,
Mike, Eva, Maykayla & Gigi

Nicholas
| Nicholas was found to have a rare blood type and was adopted by the U of M to help other cats in their Companion Animal Blood Donor Program by giving blood to other cats with his rare blood type.
Gentle Touch is so proud that one of our cats is able to help other cats.
Nicholas was set to be put down before Gentle Touch took him into the Sanctuary.
What a wonderful ending for a cat that almost didn't make it out of a high kill animal control agency. Way to go "Nick".

Ace
| Thought I would send you a picture or two to give you an update on Ace.
He seems happy is healthy and has two little boys who adore him. He needs a few more manners so we are signing up for doggy school next month.
Thanks for letting us adopt him.
Sincerely, Teresa |

Ramon
Hello Sandee,
Attached, long overdue picture of Ramon,
He loves to run in our back yard as long as we are there with him. Truly a people's cat. He would seduce anybody even people who say they don't like cats! He also adores our other cat, a 16th year old female.
He has brought a lot of excitement in her life and now they have just started to have fun together. It took more than 6 months but patience from our side and persistence from Ramon's side have paid off!
Thanks again for job well done!

Grace
| I just wanted to let you know that Grace is doing just fine. She likes her crate and happily gets in for a nap. She went to bed without any fuss last night and even slept all through the night! I heard her entertaining herself in the early morning with a puppy nylabone -- no whining at all.
She's had a full day today -- lots of time in the backyard, two good walks around the block, a visit at my friend Choon's house and a little run in a nearby park. She finds being outside exciting but also overwhelming -- lots of unfamiliar sights and sounds and smells. Bit by bit I think she'll get comfortable though. She's been greeting everyone she meets, people and dogs both.
Grace is treating my cat Pete as no big deal so thanks for doing such a good job acclimating her to cats. Pete hisses a little but is getting on with his life very nicely. They were both in the backyard together today and it was nice to see them going about their own interests without any worries about the other.
Grace has not had a single accident in the house yet. She is even in the process of knowing pretty clearly where in the backyard she should do her business.
I know there'll be some rough patches coming, but I have to say that it's pretty clear to me how lucky I am to have been able to adopt such a sweet and calm puppy.
Thanks again for getting Grace off to such a good start. I'll try to send a couple of pictures soon.

Valentino
| I am writing to update you on the puppy we adopted from your shelter.
We named him Valentino. He is a very sweet little guy and makes a great addition to the family.
We all love him and he is very happy in his new home.
He doesn't like going for walks very much, he likes to stay in the yard so we are working on getting him more comfortable with walks.
We love him very much and it's obvious he loves us too and is very happy. He's a little lover boy.
I've attached a few pics of him.

He loves to run around the house then flop on my feet. He also loves to head butt, have his tummy rubbed and play with all his new toys.
He's eating well, sleeping with me and I just love him.

Huntar
| I adopted Huntar on November 3, 2009 from Gentle Touch. He was 3 months old and the cutest little puppy I'd ever seen.
The first night I took him home my dad wasn't so sure about the new addition, but within 10 minutes of having him my dad was cuddled up on the couch with him (something that wasn't allowed for animals).
Huntar loves playing with his uncle Max at my moms house, even though Max is way bigger than him. Finally after 9 months of living together Huntar and our cat Felix are starting to get along. |
Ernie
| Thank you so much for bringing Ernie into our lives!
Ernie did great the whole way home. He sat on my lap and watched out the window and never made a peep. Just a few kisses.
We got home and had a little bath and we went for a nice little jog and met some neighbors. He's eating and drinking pretty good this evening and has been taken out lots for potty breaks. He is giving lots of love and has been the most mellow and sweet thing ever. He and our cat have been checking each other out all night but no trouble with them at all!
We'll see how the first night goes, but I have a feeling he'll be just fine overnight and if not, it will be fine in no time. He's getting lots of hugs over here!
Here are a couple pics of Ernie and the kids!
Thanks again! Tell Zoe we'll take good care of her baby!!

Update:
Just thought I would let you know he slept in his crate all night long with no barking and no accidents. I woke up and brought him out and he went potty and poop right away and he's happy as can be. My youngest was very happy to see he was still he when she woke up and he was happy to see her too! I had to take their pic this morning.
Thanks again! |

Captain
| Captain (formerly known as Buddy), has been a joy to have around! He is a very quick learner, already knows his new name, to sit, come, up, off, and we’re working on "lay down"—he also is great on a leash! |
When I brought him home, he immediately loved the backyard…with his own, personal deck to stand on. He doesn’t bark often, nor make any other noises other than a sigh when he gets comfortable!
He will play with toys occasionally, but overall loves bones to chew on! He did start a bad habit of chewing bathroom rugs…that was quickly stopped!
He is very at home laying with me on the couch or helping me with the yard work. I absolutely love having him—thank you GTAS for such a wonderful puppy!!!

Nala
| Just wanted to let you know that Nala is the greatest dog! She NEVER potty's in the house, leaps through the snow on or 13 acres like a Gazelle, and is getting along famously with our Arnie, (yellow Lab)!
Thank you for taking such good care of her, and now we will love her for a lifetime!

Bailey
Dear Friends,
I had adopted Bailey from you and wanted to let you know that she is a really great dog and nore so a great companion.
She has picked up on potty training, loves to be out doors and snuggling for a movie on the couch. She is also very friendly and loves to play. I mean loves to play! She fit in so well it is like she has been here all her life. She hates when I leave for work but she loves it when I come home. She is obsessed with having .her chest scratched and loves the pooch salon I take her to, She is everything and more to me and I am honored to have this sweet girl with me.
Thank you for allowing me to adopt her and give her a really great home. She is very well cared for and loved so much. She has come out of her shell and is very trusting. She does not like car rides too much but I am working on that phobia.
Our best wishes to you this holiday Season and again thank you!
Sincerely,
Daniel J. |

Prince
Hi everyone
my husband and daughters adopted Prince today!! He's hanging out in the basement right now, stalking Legos and playing with one of the girls.
He's beautiful!! Our dogs don't scare him at all, which was my biggest worry.
I posted a photo, and there are more on my page.
Thanks for doing what you do. :o) |
Hero
| Sorry it took so long but Hero doesn't seem to like his picture taken so I have no "cute" pictures of him after he settled in. But I did take these images the second day we got him... before he learned how to avoid camera shots.
In the pictures you can see how happy he was to finally have a "forever" home and loves to roll on the carpet! He also likes to climb on top the kitchen cabinets to keep an eye on his "kingdom". He and his new "brother" (our 10 Y.O. cat Buddy -- who had been very depressed after losing his long time cat friend Bubba to a long illness) like to play a lot and Buddy is much happier now.
Hero is a very "happy-go-lucky" guy who sometimes acts more like a big, happy puppy-dog than a cat! He runs around a lot and often does flips and leaps over the other cat in a funny/cute way. And boy does he talk! It is so cute when he wants to get Buddy to play and keeps making really cute and unique calls to him until Buddy responds.
Hero has had no recurrence of the sinus infection that you treated him for several weeks prior to the adoption, but did have a feline herpes-related mouth infection last fall that was successfully treated at Plymouth Heights Veterinary -- with no relapse. He has been in good health since then.
Thanks again for rescuing Hero from death row. We are so happy to have him in our family! Feel free to add these photos and excerpts from this email to what Carol already posted to your "I'm Home!" section.
Sincerely,
Kent-- co-adopter (with Carol) of Hero on/around April 27, 2010 |

Raquel
Hi, everyone-
our family adapted Callie (now Raquel) in January. Just wanted to let you know, she's doing great! Raquel loves to follow us around the
house, play with her toy mouse or sit on the window sill watching over
the neighborhood! She is such a sweet, gentle and loving kitty, and
we're so happy to have adapted her! Thank you so much for what you do!

Molly
We started out fostering Molly, she looked just like our other dog, Huntar, and I always thought it would be cute to have two that look the same.
They may not be from the same litter but it doesn't stop people from saying how alike they are. Since getting Molly, both her and Huntar have seemed so much happier. They play in the back yard together and sleep together.
They are almost inseparable. We weren't sure about keeping her at first but now it would just seem wrong without her here. She is always happy and curious about everything. We are so lucky to have her.

Stella
| Hi,
I'd like to submit an update on Marabelle from Ohio now named Stella. I adopted Stella from the St. Louis Pet Smart on April 10th.
Stella is such a friendly cat and has a fun-loving personality. She loves to run around, play with her toys, purrs non-stop and has really settled into her new home.
I work from home so she's such a pleasure to have around on a daily basis. Thank you for helping Stella make her way to MN and in turn allowing us to have a great addition to our family.
Thanks,

Remedy
| Remedy is doing great and is already becoming potty trained. Here are some photos.
Did he come from a high-shelter kill in Kentucky? I saw something on the Pilots for Paws website so I was wondering if it was the same set of dogs. If so, we feel very lucky that we got such a good dog who may have almost been killed.
He is very quiet, even when he is running around playing. I think I’ll have to get a bell for him. He has gone on two walks with a leash, our older dog showed him how to do it. And when I worked from home today he sat in my lap and snoozed. Our dog that died, Leinie, used to sit in my office chair with me so I am really happy Remedy is so loving.

Mizter Man
Hi!
My fiancee and I adopted an almost 2 year old male cat named Teddy from you guys this past spring 2011.
He is doing great and we thought it'd be nice to let you guys know about his life with a solid family! When we adopted him we were told he was only semi accustomed to people, that we might not even be able to adopt him as he was supposed to be the sanctuary cat because he was a stray for most of his early life, but we are so glad we were able to adopt him from you! Also we were told he wouldn't be much of a cuddler but boy was it the exact opposite! We decided to rename him Mizter Man to make him unique to our family and he seems to respond well to that name.
At first when we brought him home he was scared and shy, he didn't like our 8 month old kitten Eevee very much because she is a go-go-go kitty ready to play at all times so she kind of freaked him out at first. After about a month he began to play with her and adore her, after around 7 or 8 months now they love each other and even cuddle each other (plus he did wonders for mellowing Eevee out and making her more of a cuddler aswell!), clean each other and spend lots of time together.
He likes to play with the catnip toys we bought him all the time, he knows exactly where to scratch and where not to, they have a little play house that I bought for them that both of them just adore and use all the time (he is sleeping on it in one of the pictures attached), he cleans us when we pet him, he absolutely LOVES belly rubs, strange for a cat but it is so adorable, he is a very scaredy cat, any kind of loud noise and he jumps and runs super fast to the bedroom to hide.
He does have a bit of separation anxiety, from time to time he goes to our front door and meows for a while, missing having all those cats at the sanctuary, he must have had a best friend or girlfriend there ;] haha. Anyways he is such a great cat, unlike most cats he listens to us when we tell him to stop doing something, he is obedient and doesn't get in too much trouble, he does have feline IBS which sometimes makes it so he doesn't quite get to the litter box in time but that is a small price to pay for us to have such a wonderful cat! I've attached a few photos of him with our other cat Eevee and with Kyra to show he's a cuddler and so you can see how happy he is, he hasn't grown too much mainly because he was already fully grown when we adopted him and the vets say we are keeping both cats at very healthy weights!
Thanks for helping us add this wonderful piece to the puzzle that is our family!
-C. T. & K. L.
